Nobody does Opening Day like Cincinnati. Hands down the best to ever do it when it comes the celebration of baseball season and the Findlay Market Opening Day parade.
In 2018, thought, all of the festivities to start the baseball campaign will take place on a Thursday. Yep, you heard that right.
The Cincinnati Reds 2018 schedule came out on Tuesday and it was weird seeing that Opening Day is taken place on a Thursday because usually it begins on a Monday in April. The Reds will be hosting the Washington Nationals and Dusty Baker. Opening Night will be on a Saturday and Friday is a day off because usually after the home opener the next day is a day-off.
Why is this happening?
‘The Reds are beginning their the season on an early date due to a new rule that allows for the earlier Opening Day with additional off-days spread throughout the rest of the season. Excluding special season openers at international venues, the earliest Major League start date previously had been March 30.” from Reds.com
I like that Opening Night is on a Saturday and I know everyone is trippin because they want to stick with tradition that Opening Day in baseball should be on a Monday the same day the NCAA Men’s National Championship game is being taken place.
Oh, well, I have no problems with it.
Here’s the 2018 schedule:
