The Cincinnati Reds have been in first place for a quite a bit. Okay, it’s been like one week but that’s a win for this young ballclub that is picked to finish as one of the worst teams in baseball.
The Reds bullpen which has been the Achilles heels of this team for the last three seasons has so far in 2017 been the strength. They have posted one of the lowest ERA’s in baseball. The back-end of the pen is led by upcoming risers in Michael Lorenzen and Rasiel Iglesias. Future is bright for the pen.
Starting rotation is full of promise with Amir Garrett who has performed so well in his first three starts. The kid is removed from playing basketball at St Johns. You got arms like Brandon Finnegan, Rookie Davis and others as well. Cody Reed and Robert Stephenson both are projected to be starters are in the bullpen for now. This club has so many arms.
The bats are full of potential. You got Billy Hamilton, Jose Peraza, Adam Duvall, Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suarez and others down in the farm system waiting to get their chance.
You know as the season goes along this team will hit a streak bug and will struggle. It’s going to happen so don’t act all surprise when it does. Just stay the course with this young team.
The future is bright. I’m giving it three years until the Reds will contend again.
Progress. First place is first place.
